Owens Co-Sponsors the Water Supply Permitting Coordination Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Burgess Owens (UT-04) cosponsored the Water Supply Permitting Coordination Act, legislation to establish a framework in which federal agencies with permitting responsibilities for the construction of new reservoirs must work together, coordinate schedules, share data and technical materials and make findings publicly available.  The end result will be fewer delays, more efficient use of taxpayer dollars and ultimately more abundant water supplies.

“Historic drought has crippled western states like Utah and served as a harsh reminder of the need to conserve our precious water resources,” said Rep Owens. “The Water Supply Permitting Coordination Act allows federal agencies to employ top-of-the-line technological and management resources to improve efficiency and increase water supply. I look forward to working with my colleagues in Congress to pass this critical legislation and continue addressing water shortages in our communities.”
